Comparison of Two Lipid Extraction Methods Produced by Yeast in Cheese Whey
نویسندگان
چکیده
This work aimed to evaluate nine strains of yeast, previously identified as good producers of lipids in honey medium, for selecting the most suitable strain for the production of lipids in cheese whey medium and compared two well known extraction methods of lipids from the culture medium. The highest yield of total lipids was 1.27 g.L produced by Cryptococcus laurentii 11. A comparison was made between the two culture media: cheese whey and liquid YEPG, and two lipid extraction methods: Bligh and Dyer and Folch et al. for C. laurentii. The experiments were performed with 2 full factorial design using two factors and two levels. Lipid content was higher in cheese whey and there was no difference in the extraction methods statistically. The method of Bligh and Dyer was used in preference to Folch et al. as it resulted in larger mean of total lipids.

Investigation of Nano-Biocomposite for Kashar Cheese and Ground Meat Packaging
Background: Plastic and polymeric materials remain in the soil given the fact that they are derived from petroleum resources. However, such pollution has created a special challenge for human societies. The use of biodegradable packaging has received more attention. The general purpose of this study was to investigate the use of a mixture film of whey protein concentrate and reinforced hydroxy...
متن کاملEffect of Protease-loaded Nanoliposome Produced by Heating Method on Yield and Composition of Whey and Curd during the Production of Iranian Brined Cheese
Background and Objectives: Fast proteolysis of cheese in ripening process may lead to the premature attack of casein, release of the majority of enzymes into the whey, and loss of cheese composition from curd to whey. In this study, the effect of liposomal Flavourzyme on proteolysis of Iranian white brined cheese, as well as on the yield and composition of whey and curd was investigated. Mater...
متن کاملDemineralization of Cheese Whey by Sequential Nanofltration (NF) and Electrodialysis (ED) Processes
In this study, demineralization of cheese whey by sequential nanofltration (NF) and electrodialysis (ED) methods was investigated. For the NF step, two NF membranes labeled as NF-270 and NF-90 were tested. Approximately 90% of protein and lactose rejections were obtained with partial demineralization during NF step. For full demineralization of the NF permeate, NF follo...
متن کاملMilk fat globule membrane isolated from buttermilk or whey cream and their lipid components inhibit infectivity of rotavirus in vitro.
Milk fat is encapsulated in a milk fat globule membrane (MFGM) that contains bioactive glycoproteins and glycolipids. The MFGM inhibits infectivity of rotavirus (RV), activity that has been attributed to its glycoprotein and carbohydrate components. However, previous studies of proteins and oligosaccharides in the MGFM have not accounted for all the bioactivity associated with the complete MFGM...
متن کاملFED-BATCH BIOREACTOR PROCESS WITH RECOMBINANT Saccharomyces cerevisiae GROWING ON CHEESE WHEY
Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain W303 was transformed with two yeast integrative plasmids containing Kluyveromyces lactis LAC4 and LAC12 genes that codify β-galactosidase and lactose permease respectively. The BLR030 recombinant strain was selected due to its growth and β-galactosidase production capacity. Different culture media based on deproteinized cheese whey (DCW) were tested and the best ...
